Sarabeth Clevenger

My work draws heavily on the natural world. I am in love with the beauty of the land and sea. Often I use it symbolically to convey emotional and spiritual meaning. For many years I was concerned with the themes of loss, or death, and hope, or resurrection. Lately I have been addressing patterns in my experience of nature, and how these relate to larger ideas of space and time. Inevitably, I am concerned with what humans are doing to the environment, protests about which turn up in my work.  I am a painter who enjoys printmaking, which leads to the exploration of multiple images, layering and mixed media, all as means of enhancing the idea currently being explored.
